Lisa Graves
Ceramics found me late in life. After training as a painter I especially enjoy the tactile qualities of working with clay. Discovering new tools to make interesting textures is an endless source of joy. I bring my love of color and play to my clay creations. Handbuilding is my preferred method and allows me to shape unique soulful forms. A native Californian, I’ve drawn inspiration from my years living in New England, the vast open prairie and mountain deserts. Now settled back on the North Coast in Fort Bragg, I enjoy combining my painterly instincts with the tactile art of pottery.

Though I trained as a painter I am now finding my way with clay. It is a breath of fresh air for me to begin a project with no expectations of what the end product may be. Experimentation galore! I enjoy creating free-form pieces with stamped and carved surfaces.

Walks along our beautiful coastline, the
Camino de Santiago, colorful gardens and our local fauna are all sources of inspiration.
